A black vegan leather jacket cut with strong shoulders, a defined waist, and a subtle peplum shape through the hip. Gold sea shell buttons break up the all-black finish, while curved princess seams give the jacket its sculpted look. It has the presence of a blazer, but the leather makes it feel sharper, sexier, and a little less expected.

The waist sold me on this one. I love a jacket that gives you shape instead of hiding it, and the strong shoulder makes that waist look even more defined. I’d treat Sabine almost like a top, button it up, keep everything underneath simple, and let the cut do the work. Or go bold and rock it open over your favorite romantic dress.

I chose this because it feels romantic without feeling precious. There’s a lot of fabric and movement here, so I’d resist over-styling it. Let the tiers and lace be the detail, then keep everything else clean. If you want to add some badassery, throw on a leather jacket!

A burgundy chiffon blouse with a softly gathered high neckline, sheer blouson sleeves, and a dramatic high-low hem. The loose trapeze shape gives it movement without feeling fussy, while the long tie cuffs and back-neck bow add just enough detail. It is romantic, fluid, and strong enough to carry a very simple bottom.

This is a one size fits most. I have seen XS-2X wear it. It is oversized by design.

What I like here is the volume. I’d let the transparency, the long back drape, and those cuff ties be the whole point, then ground it with something clean and close to the body. As a millennial, I prefer a tuck in the front, but it is not necessary.

The tailored shape is clean through the top before falling into a long, straight leg. What makes them interesting is the offset waistband detail—it gives a classic trouser just enough tension to feel directional.

These are the trousers I reach for when I want tailoring to do more than just look polished. That asymmetric front changes the whole attitude of the pant, so I’d keep the top simple enough that you can actually see it. And yes, burgundy can absolutely work as a neutral—treat it the same way you would black or chocolate.

I'm Rachel — a fashion designer, stylist and lifelong student of how clothes change the way we see ourselves.

For nearly two decades, I've helped women find the line between who they are and who they're becoming.

Sometimes that's a better jacket.

Sometimes it's finally wearing the dress.

Sometimes it's tailoring what you already own.

And sometimes we need to make the damn thing ourselves.

You don't need to know what you need before you come to me. That's my job.
