Foundations of Sewing (Private Lessons)
Foundations of Sewing
Have you ever looked at a garment and thought, “I wish I knew how to make that”?
This is where your sewing journey begins.
Foundations of Sewing is a private, one-on-one class designed to help you build confidence at your own pace. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine, started and stopped more times than you’d like to admit, or want guidance on your first garment, we’ll meet you exactly where you are.
This is not a rigid, one-size-fits-all sewing class.
Your lessons are customized to your experience, goals, and creative interests. We can begin with the basics — like threading a machine, understanding fabric, and sewing clean seams — then build toward garments, alterations, fit adjustments, and the projects you’ve been dreaming about.
You do not have to become a fashion designer overnight.
You just need a place to begin.
Perfect For
Complete beginners, self-taught sewists, creative learners, and anyone interested in sewing, fashion, alterations, or garment construction.
What You May Learn
Sewing machine basics
Fabric selection
Cutting techniques
Reading patterns
Garment construction fundamentals
Professional finishing techniques
Basic alterations
Zippers, closures, and garment details
Fit adjustments and customization
Your Sewing Journey
Private lessons are offered in 2-hour sessions and customized to your skill level and goals.
Most students begin with a single session and continue building skills over time. The more sessions you take, the more techniques, projects, and confidence you’ll be able to develop.
Whether your goal is to hem your own pants, create custom garments, understand your sewing machine, or eventually sew your Pinterest board, we’ll help you build the skills to get there.
